Post What is IP Adress
Hello friends, welcome to the forums.
Internet Protocol Address:
This number is an exclusive number all information technology devices (printers, routers,

modems, et al) use which identifies and allows them the ability to communicate with each

other on a computer network. There is a standard of communication which is called an

Internet Protocol standard. In laymans terms it is the same as your home address. In order

for you to receive snail mail at home the sending party must have your correct mailing

address (IP address) in your town (network) or you do not receive bills, pizza coupons or

your tax refund. The same is true for all equipment on the internet. Without this specific

address, information cannot be received. IP addresses may either be assigned permanently for

an Email server/Business server or a permanent home resident or temporarily, from a pool of

available addresses (first come first serve) from your Internet Service Provider. A

permanent number may not be available in all areas and may cost extra so be sure to ask your

ISP.

Domain Name System (DNS): This allows the IP address to be translated to words. It is much

easier for us to remember a word than a series of numbers. The same is true for email

addresses.

Thanks

An identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address.

Within an isolated network, you can assign IP addresses at random as long as each one is unique. However, connecting a private network to the Internet requires using registered IP addresses (called Internet addresses) to avoid duplicates.

The four numbers in an IP address are used in different ways to identify a particular network and a host on that network. Four regional Internet registries -- ARIN, RIPE NCC, LACNIC and APNIC -- assign Internet addresses from the following three classes.
# Class A - supports 16 million hosts on each of 126 networks
# Class B - supports 65,000 hosts on each of 16,000 networks
# Class C - supports 254 hosts on each of 2 million networks

Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods (also called a 'dotted-quad') and look something like 127.0.0.1.

Since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user's general location.

Because the numbers may be tedious to deal with, an IP address may also be assigned to a Host name, which is sometimes easier to remember. Host names may be looked up to find IP addresses, and vice-versa. At one time ISPs issued one IP address to each user. These are called static IP addresses. Because there is a limited number of IP addresses and with increased usage of the internet ISPs now issue IP addresses in a dynamic fashion out of a pool of IP addresses (Using DHCP). These are referred to as dynamic IP addresses. This also limits the ability of the user to host websites, mail servers, ftp servers, etc. In addition to users connecting to the internet, with virtual hosting, a single machine can act like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses).

Post Inkjet Shopping
Buying inkjet printer cartridges should really be a straightforward task, but due to the growing proliferation of ink suppliers springing up on the high street and the internet, all claiming to offer the cheapest and best cartridges, it can easily become a confusing business. Here are a few tips on shopping for ink cartridges that should help to guarantee you find a reliable vendor:

If you’re looking for a one stop shop where you can buy all your printer and ink supplies in bulk ( this is a good way of ensuring a low price, especially if you own a business and can negotiate trade prices) the first thing to bear in mind is that, when it comes to ink cartridges, ‘cheapest’ and ‘best’ don't always go together.

If you want to get great value and good quality product, you need to find a supplier that can guarantee several things when it comes to both price and standard. For example, they should always use high quality inks and materials for their compatible cartridges, and they should also put all of their products through rigorous quality control by testing them thoroughly.

The best ink cartridge suppliers also offer a consistently high level of customer service; if you’re buying online make sure that purchasing methods are flexible, there’s a decent returns policy in place and you can track down a good set of FAQs to answer your pre-purchase questions.

The price of compatible inkjet printer cartridges can vary significantly so the site that you eventually choose should offer what you feel to be a winning combination of value and service. Free, fast delivery, wholesale prices on bulk orders and special offers for educational establishments and businesses are all useful bonuses that a well established, reliable online vendor should be offering.

Hi

the definition is based on Internet Protocol Version 4. See Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) for a description of the newer 128-bit IP address. Note that the system of IP address classes described here, while forming the basis for IP address assignment, is generally bypassed today by use of Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) addressing.

In the most widely installed level of the Internet Protocol (IP) today, an IP address is a 32-bit number that identifies each sender or receiver of information that is sent in packets across the Internet. When you request an HTML page or send e-mail, the Internet Protocol part of TCP/IP includes your IP address in the message (actually, in each of the packets if more than one is required) and sends it to the IP address that is obtained by looking up the domain name in the Uniform Resource Locator you requested or in the e-mail address you're sending a note to. At the other end, the recipient can see the IP address of the Web page requestor or the e-mail sender and can respond by sending another message using the IP address it received.

Thanks

Hi

A binary value used by the IP protocol to determine how to deliver packets to their destination hosts. See the entry dotted-quad for a common representation of these addresses

Thanks
