Hi,

MS .Net is a framework that allowed interoperability between different technologies.
Because interaction between new and older applications is commonly required, the .NET Framework provides means to access functionality that is implemented in programs that execute outside the .NET environment.

If you are planning to study it, i would recommend you to go for it.

Regards
Ben Thomas

A Microsoft operating system platform that incorporates applications, a suite of tools and services and a change in the infrastructure of the company's Web strategy.

There are four main principles of .NET from the perspective of the user:

* It erases the boundaries between applications and the Internet. Instead of interacting with an application or a single Web site, .NET will connect the user to an array of computers and services that will exchange and combine objects and data.
* Software will be rented as a hosted service over the Internet instead of purchased on a store shelf. Essentially, the Internet will be housing all your applications and data.
* Users will have access to their information on the Internet from any device, anytime, anywhere.
* There will be new ways to interact with application data, such as speech and handwriting recognition.

.NET depends on four Internet standards:

* HTTP
* XML
* SOAP
* UDDI

Hello Friends....

.NET is both a business strategy from Microsoft and its collection of programming support for what are known as web services,the ability to use the Web rather than your own computer for various services. Microsoft's goal is to provide individual and business users with a seamlessly interoperable and Web-enabled interface for applications and computing devices and to make computing activities increasingly Web browser oriented.

Thanks

Microsoft .NET (pronounced “dot net”) is a software component that runs on the Windows operating system. .NET provides tools and libraries that enable developers to create Windows software much faster and easier. .NET benefits end-users by providing applications of higher capability, quality and security. The .NET Framework must be installed on a user’s PC to run .NET applications.
