Post Scooter Shopping Tips.
Hello

I know there is a Yamaha/Honda dealership and a Piggish/Vesper/Apr ilia dealership literally within a mile of each other There's also a Schwinn dealership, but it's all the way in Croquet (25 miles away), and without a car, it wouldn't be worthwhile for me to go all the way there to browse their selection.
By the way, the nearest Kym-co dealership is 40 miles away, so Kym cos (although nice) are out of the question
I would like suggestions on what scooters to look at while shopping so that once I get a job, I can start saving for it. Here are some questions I have to look at when selecting a scooter:
1. Can it go up hills confidently and without hesitation?
2. Can it carry a passenger well?
3. What are the maintenance costs associated with it?
4. What is the reliability of this scooter?
5. Any mechanical issues regarding this scooter?
6. How is the handling and the ride?
7. Can a 5'9'' guy plant his feet on the ground on this model?
8. What is the engine size
9. What is the out-the-door price estimate
Anyway, that's just a rough outline of what I'm looking for in a scooter.

Hi

The most basic decision is to decide where you are going to ride the scooter. This will determine your engine size requirement. For simple commuting on 35 mph city streets, a 49cc size engine should be sufficient. If you need to reach highway speeds of 55 mph or greater, you should consider purchasing a scooter with an engine size of 150 cc or larger. If you have hilly terrain or need 75 mph highway speeds, you may want to purchase a 250 cc engine. If you do decide to get a larger size engine, this will most likely require you to obtain a motorcycle endorsement and insurance.

Thanks
