How to Choose Unique Bridal Jewelry
# Step 1
Change your store. You may feel some pressure to buy your jewelry at the bridal shop where you got your wedding dress. They have the tiaras & shoes right there. However, if you do this you'll end up with the same overpriced crystal jewelry that most brides have. Instead, buy your jewelry off ebay or at a local market. # Step 2
Break up the set. Bridal jewelry often comes in sets with earrings, necklaces & even a bracelet. To keep things unique, only wear the pieces that you love. Collect several pieces over time. # Step 3
Something blue. Adding color to the wedding ensemble has increased in popularity over the years. Some brides wear sashes or even pink dresses. If you are scared of what people will say if you don't wear all white, play around with gemstones. Go for a light aquamarine that will add color & also works as your something blue. It will still be subtle & some might even mistake it for diamonds. # Step 4
Give it meaning. Use your birthstone, your husbands birthstone, or even your wedding colors. Wear jewelry from each of your grandmothers. It doesn't have to be white, or even bridal jewelry. # Step 5
Pick quality pieces that you will be able to pass onto your kids someday. Most daughters don't want to wear their mom's old wedding dress. However, they would probably love to wear the jewelry that you wore when you got married as a homage. # Step 6
Upgrade. You might not think that you can afford genuine gemstone jewelry. Just the cz variety is expensive enough, right? Once you leave the bridal store, you have a lot more options for shopping. You can get freshwater pearls set in sterling silver for only a few dollars. Play around with sterling jewelry that will sparkle like diamonds, or layer several pearl necklaces

Re: How to Choose Unique Bridal Jewelry
If you have access to family jewels, you will want to think of how you can work them into your bridal look. For sentimental reasons you may choose your mother's pearls, your favorite grandmother's diamond earrings or your sister's charm bracelet instead of buying new pieces. Always choose a necklace that complements the cut and style of your dress. A diamond solitaire will look stunning with a V or sweetheart neckline, whereas a pearl or rhinestone choker works best with a strapless bodice Some folks say that the deep-colored stones such as rubies, sapphires and emeralds might be too bold for a white wedding ensemble and that the lighter colors such as aquamarine, citrine and lighter topaz could offer the perfect hint of color. But if the piece is a family heirloom, the tradition factor outweighs the boldness concern. At least, in my opinion. If your dress or headpiece has any gemstones included, you will want to harmonize your jewelry to them. Pearls will complement beading, whereas diamonds or zirconia go well with sequins or crystals. Always wear similar metals, i.e. all gold or all silver, so that your jewelry won't clash. Consider a tennis bracelet over long, plain gloves or a rhinestone or pearl cuff over a bare wrist. When considering which earring to go with, let your hairstyle, headpiece and necklace dictate your choice. An upswept hairdo will show off those beautiful hoop earrings, the drop or chunkier earring or the gorgeous dangly styles, while simple studs or small drop gems may be the perfect addition to a dramatic necklace, decorative veil or tiara.
