Easter Egg Hunt !

To celebrate Easter, the Cowboys and Indians of the Grand Cry territory will invite all children to participate in an Easter egg hunt on skis. Treasure hunts are also organized every Friday in the Grand Cry area.

The Winter Music season will be rich in events courtesy of the "Association de la Musique Mécanique" and also thanks to the various high quality concerts which will be held every Tuesday. Virtuosos and choirs associated with the Aeolian Philharmonic Organ will be playing every Tuesday in the Les Gets church (free entry).

MTB PassPortes du Soleil 2010

26th-27th June 2010

Over 3000 mountain bikers are meeting on the weekend of 26-27 June 2010 to celebrate the start of the season in the Portes du Soleil area.
The mountain biking Pass'Portes du Soleil is an outing through the mountains between 1000 and 2250m high to explore the faboulous mountain biking area of Portes du Soleil.
Mountain biking between France and Switzerland is a concentration of shared and good-humoured sporting moments.
Leaving from seven different stations, the itinary unveils the most beautiful paths in the area. Major changes in level are dealt with effortlessly by using the ski lifts and you can enjoy the downwards slope at your own pace whilst taking advantage of the sublime landscapes !
Six supply points along the trail are the ideal place for an invigorating break and tasting regional products and specialities from each villagge.

International Mechanical Music festival

Theme of this year : “Mechanical Music and the Savoy region”.
For almost 30 years now, each year the village of Les Gets transforms into a huge cabaret painted with all the colours of Europe.
This year will celebrate the Savoy region, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of its reunification with France.
The streets and squares of the village will be overrun by more than 400 participants from a dozen countries.
Events will show case the inventiveness of those who create mechanical musical instruments and the richness of this cultural heritage.
With its Savoy fl avour, the 2010 programme is set to be a bold one and will feature numerous new events, unusual guests, original concerts and all manner of surprises…
Festival highlights include: the inauguration of the mechanical chimes; festive and musical parades; Annexation night; a red and white fireworks display set to music.
The festival is designated a“150 th anniversary celebration”.

French Trophy for Young Mountain Bikers (TFJV)

Competition events will take place throughout the week: Monday 2/08 XC relay; Tuesday 3/08 orienteering; Wednesday 4/08 trials; Thursday 5/08 XC; and Friday 6/08 downhill.

In the heart of the Portes du Soleil, at an altitude of 1172m there is a place where the magic of the authentic Savoyard village is conjured up on a daily basis. Les Gets caters to the desires of adults as well as children, whether on the search for thrills in the snow, a haven of peace in glorious panoramic scenery, or simply to recharge their batteries.

Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June

The MTB Pass'Portes du Soleil is a mountain trek ranging from 1000 to 2250m in altitude, in both France and Switzerland, where you can discover the fabulous Portes du Soleil MTB terrain and its grandiose scenery.

Wednesday 30 June

9am: Cheese dairy tour. A guided tour explaining how local cheese is made you can taste it too! Venue: Fruitière des Perrières. Free.

5.30pm : Pottery workshop tour at “Elemen’terre”. Anouk invites you to visit the pottery for a demonstration of throwing and glazing. Venue: Sarre farm. Max 15 pers.

7.30pm: Evening petanque competition. Teams of three can enrol from 6.30pm. 5€/pers. Games start when church bell chimes for 7.30pm. Venue: Colombière public ground.

Thursday 1st July

All morning: traditional Savoyard market, venue: Marais car park.

10.30 am: conducted tour of the Garden of the Place of the House of Les Gets.

2-3pm : Chocolate workshop. Please book a day in advance at the tourist office. 20 pers. max. 9€/pers.

6pm : Goat farm tour at the Sarre farm. Places limited. Book your place on 04 50 79 71 62.

Friday 2nd July

3pm-7pm: Game time. Come and play these traditional, popular wooden games with your family or friends. Venue: Old quarter (“Vieux Village”).
