Post Advantages of travelling alone
Hi

* Freedom Most people who travel alone generally cite freedom as the great motivating factor: freedom to please themselves, go where and when they want, change their plans on a whim when they hear about something that is a 'must' to see, and to accept spontaneous invitations by locals.
* No compromises This is associated with the previous point. Even if travelling with one other person, be it friend, colleague, lover or spouse, there will always be some compromises required. Not everyone has the same interests or the same energy levels, some people need to be emotionally supported all the time, others are apathetic, some have different attitudes to time. With solo travel, there is no peer pressure over finances, the unspoken need to divide up restaurant bills equally, or guilt trips when you want to go off on your own for a while.
* Meeting people Travelling solo does not mean that you will always be alone. In fact, it allows you to meet more people because other tourists and locals find an individual traveller more approachable than those in a tightly-knit group. Also, people in groups have very little need to reach out to others for communication. I have met more people, had more interesting conversations and invitations and made more long-term friends while eating alone in foreign restaurants or sitting alone at bars. But then I am gregarious. Travelling alone allows you to choose the people you wish to spend time with rather than having to face the day-after-day annoyances of the inevitable clowns and whingers found in any large group.

Keep sharing and reading
Thanks

Traveling alone is not uncommon and most solo travelers are able to meet other travelers at hostels, bars, organised tours or any place where travelers tend to hang out.

Advantages to traveling alone:

Your time and budget are your own!

It's easier to make friends with the locals.

More space to make your trip entirely your own. Solo travel can be a great opportunity for reflection and moving at an individual pace. By traveling by yourself you only have yourself to please.

You will be far more flexible than non-solo travellers, and may find it easier to cope with unexpected setbacks and complications. There's nobody to blame you for your own gaffes, after all!

Hi

Gather all the information you need through the internet, friends, travel agencies before you take off on your solo vacation. You will need all the information you can find on the language, culture, currency, immigration rules, local weather conditions, terrain and what you need to carry. For instance, if you are planning to take a solo wildlife safari vacation, you need to carry clothes which will work as Safari gear. You can look online or in bookstores for handy, language books to use when you are traveling abroad.

Thanks

Pros -
- You set the schedule
- You never have to worry about pleasing someone else
- You can be as selfish as you want in picking what to do and when to do it
- You are more inclined to meet new people on the road, because you don't have your own built in companionship (met lots of people on buses that I probably wouldn't have if I was travelling with someone and the seat beside me was filled)

Cons -
- You can get lonely
- You may miss something that you truly might have liked because you didn't think it would be fun
- You have to pay a singles supplement at certain hotels because you aren't a "double."
