Safety Tips While Traveling ??
1) Before leaving on your holiday remind children about your family safety procedures for dealing with strangers, what to do if they get lost. 2) Keep a recent photo of children handy, also a photocopy of passports kept in a safe place or with a relative that can fax it to you in case of loss. 3) If you label children clothing, make sure the label is inside so strangers are not able to learn child's name. 4) A single parent traveling with children should ensure that permission from other parent is readily available for authorities (this is to prevent one parent abductions). This is especially important for air/train or cross border travel. 5) Always ensure one parent is in charge of keeping an eye on children and perhaps other parent can look after arrangements for travel. 6) Dressing children in bright colors makes them readily visible. Try to remember what they are wearing.

(A)Consider using a harness for toddlers, especially in busy places like airports, attractions. (B)Remind children about road safety rules, hold the hand of children under nine at all times when crossing a road or at an intersection. (C)Remind older children to always tell you where they are going, who with and what time they will be back, have a contact number for them also. (D)Review your home address, telephone number and provide your children with the name, address and telephone number of a relative or friend to contact in an emergency. (D)Provide a relative or friend with your travel itinerary and the name and telephone number of any hotels or resorts where you will be staying, if available. (E)Ensure that all occupants of any vehicles are properly secured and that there are no large or heavy items in the vehicle that may injure the occupants at any sudden stops. See the link below for more information on car safety. (F)Never leave children alone in a car, temperatures can rise rapidly in a parked car, especially in tropical places. (G)If travelling by air, make sure all family members are secured by the safety belts when seated. (H)When using highchairs in restaurants, make sure that children are secured by waist and middle strap. (I)Remind children to stay away from all animals. Make them aware of poisonous insects, snakes etc.

Re: Safety Tips While Traveling ??
Hello
Personal safety is an important factor to consider while traveling. You should always be looking out for your personal safety, but you should be even more concerned when you’re traveling. Whether you’re out of town on a business trip, visiting friends and family, or just exploring the beauty of this great nation, when you’re away from home, you’re out of your element. You don’t know the way around town or the high crime areas to avoid, so you’re more vulnerable than at home. But there are plenty of things you can do to protect yourself on the road. One of the best ways of increasing your personal safety while traveling is to travel with others. If at all possible, avoid traveling by yourself. Not only will you have a more enjoyable trip, but you’re much less likely to be victimized.
Criminals are far more likely to target and attack a lone individual than they are to go after a pair or a group. The larger the group, the safer it is. If you’re traveling in a new city for a convention and you’ve got the desire to explore, try to organize a group of several people to go with you. Crime experts say that for every additional person in the group, your personal safety is greatly increased, and the odds of your being victimized are greatly decreased. Interviews with career criminals in prison reveal the same thing – they always prefer targeting someone who’s alone rather than a group of people. The more people they’re involved with, the more work there is, along with a greater likelihood that something can go wrong. So listen to the cops and the criminals, and avoid traveling alone when possible. There may be times when you can’t avoid traveling by yourself, and if that’s the case, be extra careful. Don’t go trekking off by yourself into unknown parts without a guide.
Many cities have guided walking tours and bus tours of interesting neighborhoods and points of interest. Go to a library or bookstore before your trip, or get on the internet, and you’ll discover all kinds of things you can do with other people while you’re in a different city. But as much as possible for your own personal safety, try to travel with other people. And this advice isn’t meant just for women. While women are certainly more vulnerable because of their size and strength, men traveling alone also face much greater risks than when traveling in groups. No one, man or woman, should be traveling alone if it’s at all possible to avoid it.

1.Register so the State Department can better assist you in an emergency: Register your travel plans with the State Department through a free online service at https://travelregistration.state.gov. This will help us contact you if there is a family emergency in the U.S., or if there is a crisis where you are traveling. In accordance with the Privacy Act, information on your welfare and whereabouts will not be released to others without your express authorization. 2. Sign passport, and fill in the emergency information: Make sure you have a signed, valid passport, and a visa, if required, and fill in the emergency information page of your passport. 3. Leave copies of itinerary and passport data page: Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in case of an emergency. 4. Check your overseas medical insurance coverage: Ask your medical insurance company if your policy applies overseas, and if it covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. If it does not, consider supplemental insurance.

Re: Safety Tips While Traveling ??
1. Never list your home address on the luggage tag. If on business, put the company's address on the tag; if visiting friends you can list their address. Use covered luggage tags as well.
2. Stay with your luggage until the luggage is checked. If you must put your bag down, keep one foot on the handle.
3. Carry important papers with you; NEVER check anything that you simply cannot afford to lose. Photocopy your passport, driver's license and credit cards.
4. Bring a small flashlight. You never know when you'll suddenly be "in the dark" and find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings. At night, keep your flashlight by your bed.
5. Make sure that your prescription medicines are filled properly and labeled accurately. In some countries certain prescription medicines are forbidden.
6. Never wear anything that projects affluence. No gold chains, expensive watches and rings, luggage, or other paraphernalia should be in easy view. Better yet: leave your jewelry at home.
7. If possible travel with only one or two credit cards.
8. Women particularly should never accept a drink from a stranger. Keep an eye on your drink at all times.
9. Vary your schedule; try not to come and go at the same time everyday.
10. Only stay in a hotel that uses cards to open room doors and make sure your room has a peephole and a deadbolt lock. Secure the chain and secure the door by pushing a rubber stop under it.
