Treating Palmar hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis of the hands, or Palmar hyperhidrosis is one of the most common places to suffer from excessive sweating.
Iontophoresis is the first choice of treatment and is successful using just tap water in 85% of all cases. Those who do not get a complete cessation of sweating using only tap water, can obtain, on prescription a drug which can be added to the water. See details under 'Iontophoresis machines.'
Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy can also be performed, but iontophoresis is more popular now and is most successful and less invasive.
Botulinum injection (Botox) is not licenced in this country for palmar Hyperhidrosis and is generally not used as it is too painful.
