Post Fancy A Life in the Spotlight?
Hi

Whether you’re interested in modelling, extras work, acting auditions, or TV casting calls, showbusiness is notoriously one of the hardest industries to get into.

Without an agent or previous industry experience, it can be hard to even hear about when and where auditions are taking place – and some acting auditions are by invitation only.

Often, raw talent is not the only factor in being successful at casting calls and auditions. Even when extras are being cast, so much depends on looking the right part for a role, and on being in the right place at the right time.

If you’ve got the time to commit to it, though, extras work can be a fun and well-paid opportunity to rub shoulders with the stars. For unknown actors, it’s a great way of gaining experience. You could be appearing in the next James Bond or Harry Potter film! Few films or TV shows can operate these days without a certain number of extras.

For most people who want speaking roles, they are prepared to attend gruelling acting auditions, at which they may well be disappointed, because the desire to act is a driving passion.

If you are interested in modelling, the jobs available are very varied – from Catalogue Model work to catwalks to magazine shoots. Of course it has a reputation for glamour but it’s also extremely hard work. The work itself is tough – and so is getting it in the face of stiff competition. When you start modelling, you’re unlikely to be working for a top brand or magazine immediately.

You’ll also have to be prepared for the slog of countless auditions and taking your portfolio round to various agents before you get noticed. You’ll be just one of many hopefuls doing the rounds of casting calls.

Whether you want to attend acting auditions, try your hand at extras work, or dream of modelling, all these things are hard to break into – but not impossible. With the right advance notice of auditions and casting calls, you have the best possible chance of being prepared – and shining.

Thanks
