Sofas can cost anything from a few hundred pounds to the price of a small car, so it's wise to be clear about your budget.

Think about your lifestyle and how the sofa will need to function. 'Is it for a living room, a family room or a playroom?' asks Matt Gayleard, brand director at Natuzzi. 'Do you have kids or pets, and how much effort can you put in to maintaining it?' How many people do you have to seat? What about a sofa bed for guests? Some sofas have built-in storage, so think about other uses the piece could have, too

Consider the Size

Measure up before you shop and work out how big a sofa you can accommodate. Two smaller sofas or one large one and a couple of armchairs may be more flexible.

'Sofas will look much smaller in the store than in your living room, so it's vital to make sure it will actually fit and won't look out of proportion,' says Sally Hudson, central buyer for upholstery at John Lewis. 'Lay out newspaper on the floor to the size of your sofa to see roughly how much room it will take up.'

From a practical point of view, don't forget to think about the access into your home. Some retailers offer a home visit to check that the sofa will fit through doors, along corridors or up staircases. Some sofas ease the process by having detachable arms or coming in sections.

Hello
If you are you going to be going out there and buying a discount sofa then jumping on the first offer is not something that you should do. You have to be careful and be sure that you are really getting the best deal that is on the marketplace. Through carefully considering your options you can be sure that you have got the best deal, and saved a buck or two through being careful as part of your buying process.

1. Never buy what you like at first. Although sales are meant to push you into buying without much consideration, never buy without going home and sleeping on it first. Way up the options and then you can be sure that you have made a choice that has not been influenced by anyone other than yourself and your wishes.

2. Set a budget. If you are looking to buy anthing, then firstly setting a budget is vital to ensure that you have success. It will ensure that you do not go overboard with your spend.

3. Hop online and look at the options! If you go online and look at the options that are open to you then you are far more likely to have success in being able to weigh up the options and maybe even find the cheapest price that is out there. If you firstly go to a shopping search engine or maybe even a normal search engine and type in what you are interested in then you will be greeted with an array of options that you can choose between. You should not rule out shopping online too, but this is a great way to weigh up your options.

4. A sale is maybe not a sale when it comes to sofas unless you can be sure. Yes, you heard me! You need to look at the options and weigh up if it is really a sale price item. Look around and see what other retailers are charging and if the item really is 20% of what you thought it would be then you have probably came across a sale item, and as such you should be able to ensure much success and be sure that you have got a good deal.

5. Be prepared to negotiate with a sofa salesman. Yes, before you decide to go ahead with a big purchase be prepared to negotiate with them on many aspects such as price and the time it will take to get your product delivered. If you do not appear deperate and enter into a fair negotiation then you can be on your way to success in no time at all.

Hello friends
Anybody ever tried www.leathersofaworld.com they seem to be quite reasonable and have fast delivery. Just ordered a sofa and an armchair for my folks, but would love some reassurance.
Thanks

First, decide if your sofa is going to be the centerpiece for a total room makeover or if it needs to fit right in with your current furniture. If your current apartment is done up in shabby chic style and you don't have the funds to create a whole new room, now is not the time to invest in a plush brown leather sofa with Old World flair.
As much as you love a particular sofa in the store, if it doesn't fit with your current décor, you may end up resenting your purchase later. If you see yourself shifting into a different type of interior decorating style within the next few years, try to find a sofa that will bridge the gap rather than one that is the epitome of a completely opposite style and will stick out like a sore thumb in your living room until you can purchase new furniture, rugs, and possibly even paint.

Hello
Check the Frame
A sturdy frame means a long-lasting sofa. Soft wood, such as pine, is low-cost, but it may warp or wobble after five years. Pricier hardwood (kiln-dried oak, ash, or beech, for example) is more durable. Avoid frames made of particleboard, plastic, or metal; they may warp and crack. Legs should be part of the frame or held on with screws or dowels (pegs) — not with glue alone.

Tip: To test frame strength, lift one front corner or leg of the sofa off the floor. By the time you've raised it six inches, the other front leg should have risen too. If it's still touching the floor, the frame has too much give; it's weak.

Ask About Joinery
A frame with joints connected by any of the following means is solidly constructed: wooden dowels, double wooden dowels, wooden corner blocks (the tag might read corner blocks glued and screwed), or metal screws and brackets. Staples or nails may be used for extra reinforcement, but never buy a sofa that's held together solely by staples, nails, or glue.

Tip: Ask your salesperson for written manufacturer information on frame joinery.

Test the Springs
Most sofas have sinuous, also called serpentine, springs — preassembled units of snaking wire. They're nicely supportive, but they can press on the frame or sag over time if the metal isn't heavy. High-end sofas often come with "eight-way hand-tied springs." They're comfy but expensive; some experts feel they're no better than serpentines. Feel the springs through the upholstery — they should be close together and firm. Sofas with no springs, just webbing or mesh, are uncomfortable and flimsy.

Tip: Sit down firmly on a corner or outside edge of a sofa you're considering. Squeaks and creaks suggest that springs are incorrectly placed or hitting the frame.

Post Re: Top 5 Tips for Buying Discount Sofas
Hi guys

Many of us wake up in the morning with back pain and a stiff body. The most common reason behind this is that you are sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress. The mattress on which we sleep plays an extremely important role in making sure that you sleep well at night. We spend around one-third of each and every day lying on the bed and therefore, it is extremely vital that the mattress on which you sleep makes your body feel comfortable. Here are some top tips for buying the right mattress:
Comfort
While buying a mattress, your primary consideration should be the comfort that it provides. Choose a mattress that would provide you maximum comfort as well as support all part of the body properly, particularly your back, hips and neck.
Firmness
Some people prefer soft mattresses, whereas other like hard mattresses. However, it is important to remember that even though soft mattresses seem to be cozy they are not at all healthy for the body. They sag easily and do not provide spine alignment at all. Similarly, a mattress that is too hard can also lead to stiffness of the joints. So, look for mattresses that are neither too hard, not too soft.
Types of Mattresses
Before choosing your mattress, it is important to know about the different kinds of mattresses available in the market, as well as their respective benefits.

Thanks for all friends
